Sleep – Start

Sleep (Start) is supplied as a multi-component laboratory research reference set for in-vitro and laboratory research use only. The Sleep (Start) set (Catalog STACK-SLEEP-START) groups three individually documented synthetic peptide reference materials - DSIP, Selank, and Epithalon - into a single kit intended for analytical characterization, method development, and comparative bench work.

DSIP (delta sleep-inducing peptide) is a nonapeptide with the sequence Trp-Ala-Gly-Gly-Asp-Ala-Ser-Gly-Glu, a free-acid C-terminus, and a monoisotopic mass in the ~848 Da range. Selank is a heptapeptide, Thr-Lys-Pro-Arg-Pro-Gly-Pro, incorporating a Pro-Gly-Pro tripeptide motif appended to a Thr-Lys-Pro-Arg core; the multiple proline residues and basic lysine/arginine side chains give it a characteristic reversed-phase HPLC and mass spectrometric fingerprint near ~751 Da. Epithalon (also written Epitalon) is the tetrapeptide Ala-Glu-Asp-Gly, a small, highly acidic sequence with a monoisotopic mass near ~390 Da and pronounced solubility in aqueous buffers.

Grouping DSIP, Selank, and Epithalon in the Sleep (Start) set gives laboratories a convenient side-by-side panel of short synthetic peptides spanning different lengths (4-, 7-, and 9-mer), different isoelectric behaviors (acidic Epithalon and DSIP versus basic Selank), and different chromatographic retention profiles, which is useful for calibrating HPLC gradients, tuning LC-MS parameters, and cross-checking reference standards.
